Preparing for Legendary ConFusion

I just purchased a ticket to attend Legendary ConFusion in Dearborn, MI from January 17-19. I have been meaning to attend this convention for a few years now, but other plans have gotten in the way each year (who makes plans in January?!). While this may not be of interest to a whole lot of people, I mention it because it is my first Con, aside from a small genre convention I attended a couple of years ago at a library.

There is not a lot of information yet up on the website for panels, but I am seeing a lot of tweets from authors who are planning to attend. Here are some of the authors that are expected to attend (only a sample I happened to catch on the web):

  • Mike Carey — Guest of Honor
  • Cherie Priest — featured author
  • Kelley Armstrong — featured author
  • Ian Tregillis
  • Jacqueline Carey
  • Wesley Chu
  • Sam Sykes
  • Peter V. Brett
  • Myke Cole
  • Howard Tayler
  • Charlie Stross
  • Alastair Reynolds
  • Tobias Buckell
  • Kameron Hurley
  • Saladin Ahmed
  • Peter Orullian
  • Laura Resnick
  • Michael J. Sullivan
  • John Scalzi

I see there are also a few other book bloggers attending, as well as (of course) publishers and editors. The panel topics also look good, discussing topics such as hybrid publishing, lessons from reading slush, bad writing advice, and how Twitter is changing writing. I will definitely hit a couple of these up, hopefully meet some people, and browse the dealers’ rooms. I will be there for sure on Saturday and Friday night is a maybe.

Drop me a line if anyone is interested in connecting. Otherwise, I’ll be the 6 foot 5, thirty-something wandering the convention aimlessly.
